Description
Chicken Shawarma is a fragrant, marinated delight infused with spices, perfect in pita or over rice.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
- 2 tablespoons cumin
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread or rice for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cumin, paprika, turmeric, minced garlic, yogurt, olive oil, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Add chicken to marinade; coat well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until fully cooked.
- Allow chicken to rest, then slice into strips.
- Serve in pita, over rice, or in a salad bowl with garlic sauce.
Notes
Marinating the chicken overnight enhances the flavor. Leftovers can be stored for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
