- 4 firm apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (gluten-free option available)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (brown sugar optional)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional nutmeg)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (or crushed nuts)
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wash, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
- In a bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined and crumbly.
- Place the apple slices in a greased baking dish and evenly spread them. Layer the crumb mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
You can prep the apple mixture and topping separately. Best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to three days.
