Description

Festive cookies filled with the flavors of ginger, spice, and sweet molasses, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg, mixing until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Form the dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and roll them in sugar.
  5. Place the dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set.
  6. Allow cooling on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use dark molasses. Freshly ground spices enhance aroma and depth.
