- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture.
- Mix in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Place a spoonful of the batter into each cupcake liner, add a teaspoon of raspberry preserves, then top with more batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with melted chocolate.
- For the raspberry buttercream, beat the softened butter and vanilla until creamy, then add powdered sugar, raspberry puree, and a pinch of salt.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with raspberry buttercream and garnish with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate shavings.
